The production process of injection molding is divided into three stages: preparation before molding, injection process, and necessary post-treatment.
(1) Preparation before forming
In order to make the injection process run smoothly and ensure the quality of plastic parts, some necessary preparations should be carried out before molding.
① Including raw material type, color, appearance inspection, and process performance (melt index, fluidity, thermal performance, and shrinkage rate) identification.
② Some plastics need to be adequately preheated and dried.
③ Cleaning of injection molding machine cylinder (when products need to be changed, raw materials need to be replaced, or decomposition is found in plastics).
④ Insert preheating of plastic parts with insert and release agent selection of plastic parts with difficulty in release, etc.
(2) Injection process
The injection process generally includes feeding, plasticizing, injection molding, cooling and molding steps.
① Need quantitative feeding.
(2) Plasticizing. Plasticization is the process by which added plastics are heated in the barrel and converted from solid particles to a viscous fluid state with good plasticity.
③ Injection. The injection process can be divided into several stages, such as mold filling, pressure retaining, backflow, cooling after gate freezing, and demoulding.
(3) Product post-processing
After the plastic parts of injection molding are released or machined, it is often necessary to carry on the appropriate post-treatment to eliminate the existing internal stress, improve the performance of the plastic parts and improve the dimensional stability. The main methods are annealing and humidification.
