Tip the light assembly forward and out of the niche, it should float to the surface unless it has water in it. If it does, you should replace the entire light, cord and all. How do you replace pool light?

If it's dry inside and floats, lift the assembly up onto the deck. There should be sufficient excess cord wrapped around the light shell to permit this. If not, you'll need to tie wire or string to the other end of the cord at the junction box to allow you to pull more cord at the pool end. When the repair is complete, that wire or string lets you pull the cord back to where it was.

Undo the clips, bolts, or clamps that hold the lens on and remove the lens/gasket from the light shell. Check to make sure there are no signs of moisture or water residue inside.
