Platner personally worked out the production techniques for the complex design, which required more than a thousand welds and more than a hundred cylindrical steel rods per chair. The Platner Chair's structural frame is available in bright nickel-plated transparent lacquer-coated steel wire or lacquered bronze. It uses vertical metal wires as the main support.
