Technical Principle

In its natural state, the molecules of liquid crystal are randomly arranged. The refractive index of the liquid crystal is lower than that of the surrounding polymer, causing incident light to scatter within the polymer, resulting in a milky white or opaque appearance.

However, when an electric current is applied, the droplets within the dispersed liquid crystal polymer rearrange themselves. This causes the liquid crystal to transition from a disordered state to a directionally ordered one. As a result, the refractive index of the liquid crystal aligns with that of the polymer, allowing incident light to pass through completely and creating a transparent state.
