What is half hole?


The so-called metallized half hole is to point to a hole (drill, gong groove) after the hole, and then two drill, shape process, and finally retain the metallized hole (groove) half. Metallized half hole PCB is less used in various industries than PCB. Metallized half hole is easy to pull out the sunken copper in the hole when milling edge, so the scrap rate is very high. Module PCB is basically designed with half hole, mainly to facilitate welding, small module area, functional requirements,to make pcb assembly(pcba) easier. The usual half hole is in the PCB single only the most edge design hole, in the gong shape gong to go half, leaving only half hole on the PCB, commonly known as half hole. This kind of PCB with the whole row of semi-metallized holes on the side of the board is characterized by small aperture, mostly used on the carrier board, as a child board of the mother board, through these semi-metallized holes and the mother board and the pins of components are welded together. So if there are copper thorns in these semi-metallized holes, when they do SMT&Through-Hole Assembly, it will lead to weak welding feet, virtual welding, and serious short circuit between the two pins.
