What are LED lenses made of?
There are several materials for the lens of led lighting: 1. Silicone lens: Because the silicone has high temperature resistance, it is often used to directly package LED light-emitting devices. Generally, silicone lenses are small in size, 3-10mm in diameter. 2. PMMA lens: optical grade PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate, commonly known as: acrylic). It has high production efficiency and high light transmittance, but the temperature cannot exceed 80° (the heat distortion temperature is 92 degrees). 3. PC lens: Optical grade material Polycarbonate (PC). It has high production efficiency but lower light transmittance than PMMA. The temperature cannot exceed 110° (heat distortion temperature 135°). 4. Glass lens: Optical glass material, with rich optical parameter characteristics, it has the highest light transmittance and high temperature resistance. However, it is large in size, heavy in weight, single in shape, fragile, difficult to achieve in mass production, low in production efficiency and high in cost.
