The EPON 1GE ONU metal shell is generally used in Ethernet passive networks, a network unit ONU, a 1GE port that provides network connectivity for electronic devices (computers or routers). The metal shell material can provide protection and durability for internal components, and is more able to adapt to some harsh environments than the traditional EPON ONU plastic shell, which is more cost-effective than the plastic shell EPON ONU.

GL-E8010U-CTM ONU products fully comply with IEEE 802.3-2005 and China Telecom EPON equipment technical requirements V2.1, with carrier-grade operational, manageable, and easy to maintain features, industrial-grade design, to provide customers with high-speed data services. It has a PON 

uplink interface connected to the central office equipment nthrough optical fiber.
