What are the core components of the WDM system?

The core component of the WDM system is the WDM device, and its characteristics determine the performance of the entire system to a large extent. WDM devices are devices that combine and separate optical wavelengths. The combination is called a multiplexer, and the separation is called a splitter. There are two most commonly used devices, namely optical fiber fusion taper WDM devices and thin film filter WDM devices.

Athermal AWG WDM, also known as Athermal Arrayed Waveguide Grating WDM and AAWG WDM Splitter, along with FBT WDM splitter, LAN WDM splitter, Filter WDM splitter, dense WDM splitter and coarse WDM splitter, are the most commonly used WDM device in construction of PON.
