The exhaust fuel pressure sensor is a differential sensor that measures the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the particulate filter. Depending on the model, the exhaust port can be set directly to ambient pressure. The pressure sensor is another element of the pollution monitoring system imposed on diesel engines by European emissions regulations. The exhaust fuel pressure sensor also estimates the full size of the particulate filter, which sends a signal to the onboard computer to activate the DPF active afterburn mode (in the case of gasoline vehicles, GPF or FAP) as needed. The process works by feeding a richer fuel mixture into the engine compartment, which automatically raises the combustion temperature, which helps the particle filter regenerate itself. It is worth mentioning at this point that the exhaust fuel pressure transmitter can also signal that the filter is full and therefore needs to go to an authorized service center to carry out the necessary repair work.
