Typically, the two pressures to be measured are applied to opposite sides of a single diaphragm. The positive and negative deflections of the diaphragm relative to the resting state determine the pressure difference. Some industrial CNG/LPG differential pressure sensors actually use two separate absolute sensors that utilize internal electronics to calculate and provide the pressure difference to the control system. Alternatively, if desired, two pressure sensors can be used to achieve the difference measurement and then the difference can be calculated on an industrial control system.
