Marathon finisher medals for the 10k is not included in the registration price. There have been requests by 10k participants to have a finisher medal. Likewise, there are many participants who would prefer not to have a 10k finisher medal in lieu of a lower registration price. Hosting the event in banff national park makes for a wonderful experience, but is much more expensive than operating a traditional running event. In the spirit of trying to maintain the lowest registration price and provide an opportunity to have a 10k finisher medal, a medal has now been made available for purchase.

The metal medals at the end of the marathon are usually made of metal, such as copper, silver or gold. Marathon medal usually have the logo of the competition, the date and the name of the event. Metal medals are a reward and recognition for outstanding performance in the competition, usually awarded to the first few finishers. The metal medals are beautifully designed and made, and are a symbol of the participants' hard work for honor and a sense of accomplishment.
