The full-section blade has a complete PCD top surface, sintered on a hard alloy substrate, and provides multiple cutting edges on only one side of the blade. The tip-shaped insert is a PCD insert welded to a corner of a hard alloy substrate. The tip-shaped insert is either a single cutting edge or a double cutting edge. Most of the PCBN inserts used today are sharp-pointed.
