How to clean the dirt on the circuit board

At present, the circuit board cleaning is mainly conducted by ultrasonic wave. However, some components on the circuit board, such as crystal oscillator, have metal shells. After cleaning, it is difficult to dry the moisture inside the components. The principle of ultrasonic cleaning: the cleaning of flux residues is mainly completed through dissolution. Both rosin and organic acid, as well as their tin salt or lead salt, have a certain solubility in the cleaning agent, and the residue can be removed through the process of transferring from the circuit board to the cleaning agent.

Particulate pollutants: dust, cotton wool and solder balls. Solder ball is a kind of welding defect. If the vibration of equipment makes a large number of small solder balls gather on a part, it may cause electrical short circuit. Solder balls can be removed by cleaning.

Non polar pollutants: rosin resin, paraffin, anti oxidant oil used on wave soldering, and cosmetics or hand sanitizers left by operators.

Polar dirt: halides, acids and salts.

Harm of contamination on the circuit board: particulate contamination - electrical short circuit. Polarity contamination - dielectric breakdown, leakage, component/circuit corrosion. Non polar contamination - affecting the appearance, white powder spots, adhering dust, and poor electrical contact.

Cleaning method of PCB: ① Common cleaning mainly uses a single cleaning tank, and PCB to be cleaned is immersed in cleaning agent liquid for cleaning. The temperature of the cleaning agent in the ultrasonic cleaner is generally 35 ℃～ 85 ℃, and the cleaning time is 2-5 minutes. Liquid phase cleaning can be used for common cleaning agents.

Vapor phase cleaning means that the machine consists of at least three tanks, of which the first tank is hot cleaned, the second tank is cold dipped, and the third tank is boiling steam rinsed. The cleaning agent liquid in the third tank will generate steam after being heated, and the low-temperature workpiece will be cooled into a liquid drop tank after being subjected to freezing and immersion, which will result in a fairly clean workpiece. In this way, the PCB surface will be clean after being washed out in clean cleaning solution. The cleaning agent suitable for this equipment is mainly non combustible single or mixed liquid such as trichloroethylene. This is an ultrasonic cleaning equipment for PCB circuits with higher requirements.
