Basic Red 3mm LED Round Top Clear Lens

304RC are the most common 3mm red LED, which is the one of the LED electronic component. Here are the steps to use the LED: 

1. Insert the 3mm red LED into the breadboard, making sure that the longer leg (the anode) is connected to the positive rail and the shorter leg (the cathode) is connected to the negative rail. 

2. Connect one end of the suitable resistor to the same row as the cathode of the LED. 

3. Connect the other end of the resistor to the negative rail of the breadboard. 

4. Connect a jumper wire from the positive rail of the breadboard to the anode of the LED. 

5. Connect another jumper wire from the anode of the LED to the positive terminal of the power source. 

6. Connect a final jumper wire from the negative terminal of the power source to the negative rail of the breadboard. 

7. Turn on the power source and the LED should light up. Note: If the LED does not light up, make sure that the connections are correct and that the resistor value is correct.

*λD is derived from the CIE chromaticity diagram and represents the single wavelength which defines the color of the device.
