When the mixture is lean, the oxygen content in the exhaust gas is high, and the difference in concentration between the inner and outer sides of the zirconium tube is small, and the electromotive force generated is small, about 100 mV. When the mixture is rich, the oxygen content in the exhaust gas is low, the concentration difference is large, and the generated electromotive force is high, about 900 mV. The level of the electromotive force is abruptly changed by the theoretical air-fuel ratio. The output characteristics of the oxygen sensor are related to the exhaust gas temperature. When the exhaust gas temperature is lower than 300 ° C, the output characteristics of the oxygen sensor are unstable. Immediately after the engine is started, the oxygen sensor does not work due to the low exhaust gas temperature, and the engine operates in an open loop state. The oxygen sensor works only when the exhaust gas temperature rises. Therefore, the oxygen sensor should be installed at a higher exhaust gas temperature. Some models have an exhaust temperature sensor installed. When the signal of the exhaust temperature sensor reaches a certain value, the ECU performs air-fuel ratio feedback correction according to the signal of the oxygen sensor. The fuel injection amount is adjusted and the concentration of the mixture is controlled, that is, the engine starts. Closed-loop control.
