Silicon Nitride Ceramic:

There are three main methods for sintering high-purity silicon nitride powder at 1700o C. The sintering method is basically the same: reaction sintering method, conventional sintering method and hot-press sintering method. The reaction is based on the reaction: 3Si(s)+ 2N2(g)= Si3N4 (s) The initial temperature of the nitridation reaction is 1100o, and then gradually increases to 1420o. The whole process takes several CC days. Since the reaction is an exothermic reaction, the heating rate should be carefully controlled. The product obtained by heat preservation at 1400o is a mixture of α - and β-Si3N4 with a porosity of 15C 30%. Reaction Sintering Advantage: no additional additives are added. The strength of the material is not significantly lowered at high temperatures; The shape is unchanged, and the shape of the product can be made. When the two parts are welded, it is only necessary to connect them together for nitriding reaction sintering. The key factor affecting the product quality is to control the reaction temperature. The furnace temperature rises above the melting point of silicon and is often referred to as ultra-temperature nitriding.
