As a two-dimensional material, hexagonal boron nitride exhibits excellent optoelectronic and mechanical properties, thermal stability, and chemical inertness. Ultrathin Hexagonal Boron Nitride Ceramics has received extensive attention from researchers in various fields of science, such as nanoelectronics, photonics, biomedicine, anti-corrosion, catalysis and other fields.
In view of this, a review by Pulickel M. Ajayan of Rice University reported a systematic study of the structural, electronic, mechanical, optical, and thermodynamic properties of two-dimensional boron nitride materials, and their current chemical glass, chemical/physical vapor deposition. Such advanced synthetic strategies are subsequently introduced to enable the development of doping, substitution, functionalization, and construction of heterostructures with other materials. The authors then demonstrated various application prospects based on the excellent thermodynamic, mechanical and chemical stability of 2D boron nitride materials.
