What are hotel room numbers?

The hotel room number is a number for each individual room, the purpose is to identify a particular room, so that the guests will know which room they live in, it is also called a door plate. 

Normally a hotel door plate is not only printed a room number, but also have some service information such as Do Not Disturb, Make Up Room, Do The Laundry.
